Our founder posted a thread announcing that he was considering launching American Opposition on January 26, 2025. Less than 24 hours later, the organization was born.
National Day of Protest - February 5, 2025
We called for the very first national day of protest on February 5, 2025 and were joined by the organizers that would become 50501, launching the anti-Trump protest movement. Our founder spoke at the rally at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, Colorado.
Tesla Boycott - January 24, 2025
Our founder was among the first to call for a boycott of Tesla. Elon Musk responded by calling him “evil.”
National Day of Protest - No Kings - February 17, 2025
On February 6, 2025, we called for the second National Day of Protest on Presidents’ Day, which became the first “No Kings” protest (50501 joined our call on February 8, 2025, and proposed using “No Kings” a few days later). Our founder headlined the main protest at the U.S. Capitol.
National Day of Protest - March 4, 2025
We joined 50501 and Refuse Fascism for the third National Day of Protest, expanding the movement. Our founder spoke at the Refuse Fascism rally at the U.S. Capitol.
Stand Up for Science Protests - March 7, 2025
We joined the coalition powering the Stand Up for Science protests across the nation. Our founder spoke at the rally at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, Colorado.
NOW Veterans March - March 14, 2025
We joined a coalition of groups headed by 14th Now! and the Removal Coalition to deliver a major veterans’ demonstration on the National Mall. Our founder gave a rousing speech that went viral and helped expand public awareness of our efforts.
Mass Media March - March 30, 2025
We oversaw the Mass Media March DC at the Fox News studio in Washington, DC. Our presence was reported on by Gutfeld, marking the first time a direct action was covered by Fox News.
Hands Off! - April 5, 2025
We worked in partnership with 50501 to help deliver the “Hands Off!” National Day of Protest on April 5, 2025. It was the first one joined by Indivisible at the national level and the first to deliver over four million attendees nationwide. Our founder spoke at the rally at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, Colorado.

We were part of a coalition—led by 50501—that helped deliver a National Day of Protest on April 19, 2025. Our founder joined national leaders from 50501 and spoke at the rally and march at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, Colorado.
West Hollywood Counterprotest - April 27, 2025
We helped lead a direct action to counterprotest a Matt Gaetz-led pro-Trump gathering in West Hollywood, California.
D-Day Anniversary Protests - June 6, 2025
Our director of media relations proposed a national veterans action on the anniversary of D-Day, so we created a partnership with the AFL-CIO’s Union Veterans Council and 50501 Veterans to deliver Unite for Veterans—the largest national veterans demonstration in American history.
Remove the Regime Protest - June 6, 2025
We partnered with Jessica Denson, Cliff Cash, the Removal Coalition, and Mayday Movement to deliver a protest at Union Station. We were joined by Rep. Al Green, Rep. Shri Thanedar, Commander Phil Ehr, and many others.
White House Protest - June 7, 2025
A last-minute direct action at the White House was arranged in partnership with Refuse Fascism which led to one of the most viral speeches our founder has ever given.
No Kings II - June 14, 2025
We were a central part of the coalition that worked to deliver the second No Kings protests (the organizing efforts were led by 50501). The protests were attended by over 7 million Americans nationwide. Our founder helped lead the 250,000 person march through Downtown Los Angeles and spoke to the crowd.
National Day of Protest - July 4, 2025
We called for a national set of protests for the Fourth of July to reclaim our independence, and were joined by Indivisible and 50501 chapters throughout the nation. Our founder spoke in at the Torch of Freedom in Miami at a rally organized by 50501 Miami. His speech was interrupted by Proud Boy leader Enrique Tarrio.
Rage Against the Regime - August 2, 2025
For 50501’s Rage Against the Regime protests, our founder traveled to Wyoming to speak to red state organizers and celebrate their bravery.
Direct Action - NLRB Protest - Labor Day, 2025
In partnership with Flare, the Removal Coalition, Jolly Good Ginger, and others, we led a march from Union Station to the National Labor Relations Board offices where we held a direct action protest for workers’ rights.
Direct Action Launch - September 2, 2025
We joined Flare and the Removal Coalition in organizing a launch protest for our direct action program at Union Station. Our founder spoke alongside Representative Al Green, who then joined us in a march to the Capitol.
Congressional Office Visits and White House Protest - September 2, 2025
We joined Flare and the Removal Coalition in organizing a direct action in Congress where we visited all congressional offices with 1,400 Americans and then protested at the White House in response to a Trump press conference. We also organized a direct action at the home of Russell Vought.
Direct Action - The Handmaid Army - November 5, 2025
We joined The Handmaid Army, Flare, and the Removal Coalition in organizing a direct action in Congress where we visited all congressional offices and then joined the Refuse Fascism protest and march through Washington, DC calling for the removal of the regime. We also joined a protest at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) organized by Remember your Oath and a protest at the Heritage Foundation organized by Flare featuring The Handmaid Army.
Remove the Regime - November 22, 2025
In partnership with the Removal Coalition and We Are The Flood, we called for the immediate impeachment, conviction, and removal of Donald Trump. The three-day program featured multiple events culminating in a massive rally at the Lincoln Memorial. The rally included a performance by The Dropkick Murphys and an all-star lineup of speakers.
The Mass Blackout - November 25-December 2, 2025
We joined forces with Black Out The System, Money Out of Politics, People’s Sick Day, The Progressive Network, and Fight Against Fascism and helped lead a coalition-building effort that united over 100 organizations in calling for a Total Economic Blackout from November 25, 2025 to December 2, 2025. The original coalition was built in just 72 hours.
The Mass Blackout Presents: 7 Days of “Givemas” - December 18-24, 2025
The Mass Blackout coalition organized a seven day advent calendar of giving to strengthen the movement’s mutual aid capabilities. Each day had a theme and corresponding actions people could take to help others and support mutual aid organizations throughout the country.
Direct Action - National Day of Protest Against ICE & Broadview Protest - January 17, 2026
We led a protest at the notorious ICE detention facility in Broadview, Illinois that served as the centerpiece of a National Day of Protest Against ICE. The protests addressed ICE’s treatment of migrants, legal residents, and citizens, as well as the Trump administration’s policies regarding the use of foreign concentration camps (like CECOT in El Salvador) and the illegal invasion of Venezuela.

We joined a coalition that established an emergency action to greet Donald Trump for his event in Detroit.

We joined Cliff Cash in organizing a rally in West Palm Beach featuring Earth to Eve, Robert Arnold, and many others that was followed by march to Mar-a-Lago where we were joined by the Revolutionary Black Panther Party and its leader, Dr. Alli Muhammad.
Direct Action - Cookeville Protest - March 15, 2026
We joined the Revolutionary Black Panther Party in organizing a rally in Cookeville, Tennessee. A/O founder Carlos Álvarez-Aranyos spoke about ICE abuses and criminal justice reform.
National Day of Protest - No Kings IV - March 28, 2026
We joined Rep. Joe Negus and Boulder County Commissioner Marta Loachamin in Longmont, Colorado. A/O founder Carlos Álvarez-Aranyos reminded the crowd that the movement was born in Colorado and that they have a profound responsibility to continue to feed its national expansion.
Direct Action - Emergency White House Protest On Iran - April 7, 2026
We called for a last-minute protest to surround the White House after Donald Trump threatened genocide and nuclear action against Iran. The protest was wildly successful despite being called five hours prior to the start time.
National Day of Protest: National Fuck ICE Day - April 11, 2026
We named and helped organized the nationalization of Operation Dildo Blitz and joined the protest in Los Angeles. The LAPD kettled the protest aggressively after launching tear gas and projectiles and A/O founder Carlos Álvarez-Aranyos was forced to escape through the tunnels of the Los Angeles subway system.
Direct Action: Los Angeles Anniversary ICE Protest - June 6, 2026
We joined the Los Angeles crew, Robby Roadsteamer, and Chelsea Gods to mark the first full year of sustained ICE protests at the Metropolitan Detention Facility.
Direct Action: We The People 250 March On Washington - July 4, 2026
We called for and led the organizing for the We The People 250 March On Washington to cap off the Seven Days in DC and counterprogram Trump’s program for the anniversary. We eventually turned over organizing duties to the Backbone Campaign. The march delivered the largest crowd in DC on the day despite the weather hitting 107 degrees.
Direct Action: Aurora ICE Facility Emergency Protest - July 17, 2026
We summoned an emergency protest to highlight an outbreak of tuberculosis at the Aurora ICE Detention Facility in Colorado. The media attention generated a lawsuit from Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser.
Election Season Program: Fucking Vote Campaign - September 3, 2026
We launched a national turnout campaign using the slogan “Fucking Vote.” The campaign has been widely adopted as the slogan for the election and has gone mega viral. The campaign was timed to the announcement of National Fucking Vote Day.
Election Season Program: Know Your Vote - October 3, 2026
A/O founder Carlos Álvarez-Aranyos will headline the Know Your Vote event in Brighton, Colorado on October 3, where he will give a major address on voting.

We called for a national day of activation to prepare voters for the election on October 17, 2026. The day was later joined by 50501 and Indivisible under the “No Kings: Vote Early” banner, delivering a unified movement effort to activate voters and maximize momentum ahead of the midterms.
